Red chilly Coriander Chana dal Toor dal Pepper Fenugreek Turmeric.

1. Wash the toor dal thoroughly. Pressure cook until soft and mushy. Mash well and keep aside.
2. In the same cooker, heat oil. Add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter.
3. Add curry leaves and small onions or vegetables of your choice. Sauté until lightly cooked.
4. Add tomato and cook until soft and pulpy.
5. Add Varahi’s Iyer Aathu Sambar Podi and sauté briefly to release the aroma.
6. Add tamarind pulp, asafoetida and salt. Allow it to boil until the vegetables are fully cooked.
7. Add the cooked dal and mix well.
8. Close the lid and pressure cook for one whistle.
9. Open the lid, garnish generously with fresh coriander and serve hot.
